I've had such an amazing first day here guys! My main mission was to walk around town with a bunch of CVs, trying to charm everyone at every place I went into, making them want to hire me. Needless to say, I was a bit nervous in the beginning, since I'm quite a shy person in general, and I have never really done anything like this before. But I pulled myself together and dove in there with a smile on my face.
It's such a great ego-boost when you accomplish something that you're a bit scared about. And everyone where so nice talking to me, so my mood went up just because of that. After I had gone into a few places I was feeling kind of invincible! And then I went past this cute little food place and saw a sign that said they were looking for staff. So I went in there, saying that I was looking for a job. The man told me to sit down, so I thought "oh okay, guess we're having an interview right now then?" Which I was quite nervous about, because I really want to be more prepared for things like that. He gave me a cup of tea and sat down in front of me, only to find out that I was looking for a full-time job, while he only wanted a part-time worker.
So we ended up just talking while I was drinking my tea, and when I wanted to pay for the tea (because I felt quite bad that he had offered me a cup when he couldn't hire me even if he wanted to) he insisted that it was on the house. And he said that if I ever feel like I need some company or am out of money and need some food I could come there. I mean seriously?? This would never happen in Sweden. Only one of the many reasons why I love this country. People are just so freaking nice.
After this event, I was walking down the street, passing a door. Just when I had passed it, two guys came out, and one of them just screamed out "I love London!" I felt like I wanted to join him at that moment.
And when I came back to the hostel, I got a call from one of the places I went to and they asked me to go for a trial shift there tomorrow! So if this goes well, I might have a job really soon! I'm a bit shocked they contacted me so quickly, I had expected to wait for several days before I heard from anyone. But I guess it does a lot showing up there in person, and they also needed people, so probably a bit of luck there as well.
And I have been talking to a bunch of really nice people at the hostel, one of them was actually a Londoner himself, and he said that I sounded like I'm from here!
Ok, I'll stop rambling about how great everything is. I mean I'm just... I'm just so happy right now!
